There are no petrol stations or ATMs in Waitomo Caves Village.
If you are driving from Waitomo down to the coast, make sure you have filled up with petrol in Otorohanga or Te Kuiti first. Once you leave the village and head west there are no more petrol stations for over 100 kilometres. Otorohanga is 17 kilometres north of Waitomo Caves Village and has a Woolworths, McDonalds, Subway, bakery, sushi shop, cafe's, Caltex, and Mobil service stations. Te Kuiti has similar facilities, and is 19 kilometres south of Waitomo Caves.
We strongly recommend that school groups (including the adults) bring a packed lunch when visiting for the day. There are a couple of cafe's here and the Waitomo General Store has small quantities of essential supplies, cold drinks, ice-creams, organic products, and a cafe providing hot drinks, lunches and cooked breakfasts (till noon). If you have a large group that all want to buy food whilst here we strongly recommend phoning a day or two beforehand and placing an order.
